The Credentials Vault Management module, or simply Vault, is used to configure and implement credential management functionality on the CloudBlue Connect platform. The provided credentials management capabilities allows partners set up credentials configuration, input credentials, and manage those credentials through a full proper security credential lifecycle. By doing so, partners can ensure that their credentials are correctly managed, properly secured, and operationalized in their channel partner activities.
Before starting to work with the Vault module and its comprehensive features, it is recommended to get familiar with the Vault overview, credential configuration, and managing credentials.
Credentials represents unique identifiers, passcodes, and other security key combinations that is unique to a partner. These credentials are required in order to perform authenticated activities from specific partners – such as accessing privileged APIs, placing specific orders, obtaining certain discounts, and other activities. As such, credentials should be highly guarded and managed properly so that it is secured and not improperly used.
Credential configuration allows partners, particularly ISVs, to define what their credentials should look like and how they should be applied. Additionally, credential configuration can be set up with appropriate validation endpoints that allow the partner to test and ensure their credentials are valid and up to date.
Correct credential configuration is very important as part of process, as it ensures the partner is correctly applying the right credentials, for the right product, in the appropriate scenario.
Distributors and marketplace owners are able to fully manage their credentials in the Vault module. This allows the distributors to apply the correct credential configuration (set by the vendor), and set up the proper information needed for the credentials to work. This includes identifying the correct environment, marketplaces, credential values, validity dates and statuses, and other information required for the credentials to be applied and processed.
